An interactive at the base of a large sculpture reveals the creators and concepts behind it—and provides access to the great depth of content the sculpture contains.
Filling the atrium of the Freedom Museum, the 12151791 sculpture consists of a tight spiral of 43 thin cords hung from the museum’s ceiling, on which planes etched with quotations are suspended. This work of art models a conversation about freedom which the interactive kiosk allows visitors to enter into more fully: over 800 quotations can be browsed and searched, and insight into the meaning of the sculpture and the ideas of its creators can be gleaned from the elegant interface. As a new cord with quotations is added to the sculpture these new quotations are easily added to the kiosk as well, keeping the interactive both current and a perfect companion to the evocative sculpture.
