A location-based mobile app helps visitors make the most of their visit to the world’s largest living history museum.
Hundreds of thousands every year travel to Colonial Williamsburg to immerse themselves in 18th-century life. But how do you give a modern audience the wayfinding convenience they expect without detracting from the authenticity of the historical experience?
We collaborated with SapientRazorfish’s Mobile team on a location-based mobile application that encourages visitors to spend less time looking down at their screen and more time engaging with their unique surroundings. Thanks to convenient planning features, accessible wayfinding, and a real-time interpreter tracker, users can explore the grounds with ease and ensure they encounter every costumed interpreter on their wish-list—from Liberty the dog to George Washington to Thomas Jefferson. The app’s colonial camera feature lets users make and share playful self-portraits, giving them a fun digital souvenir to remember their visit by.
