Audio and peep pylons extend the storytelling methods of the exhibit to video and audio, creating a multi-sensory landscape.
The exhibit culminates with stories of citizen science: the ways in which everyday people can observe nature and collect and report data of great value to conservation scientists. Leaning in to closely observe the short video and animation stories in the peep pylons, visitors learn about the surprising insight gained from citizen rain measurements during the 2013 Colorado floods, as well as other more playful looks at the wildlife found in Colorado.
Using their own bodies as amplifiers, visitors lean their elbows to their ears on the audio pylons to uncover sounds of the steppe, from rolling thunder to prairie chicken songs to the howling of coyotes.
