Elephant Lands Experience
A digital pop-up book provides a playful introduction to the elephant program at the Oregon Zoo.
Completed in 2015, the six-acre Elephant Lands habitat at the Oregon Zoo offers Portland’s pachyderms a state-of-the-art home for frolicking, grazing, swimming, and exploring. To help visitors of all ages learn more about these majestic creatures, we created a delightful digital interactive experience inspired by pop-up books.
Whimsical scenes peppered with charming animations lead to fun facts about elephant behavior, conservation efforts, scientific discoveries, Portland’s connection to its elephants, and the habitat itself. Through videos, audio recordings, and still photography from the zoo’s extensive collection, children and adults alike get to know Portland’s elephant family and develop a deeper appreciation for these extraordinary animals.
