Content-rich interactive tables expose users to an array of human rights issues and suggest ways for them to take action in support of the causes that matter to them most.
From access to clean water to equal opportunities for the disabled, the right to an education to freedom of speech, battles for basic human rights are being actively waged around the world. This multimedia experience uses video and still photography to immerse users in the challenges so many face, offering insight into the personal narratives of individuals as well as context around the broader issues being explored throughout the Center.
Up to 4 visitors at a time can engage with the table using both touch interaction and fiducial markers in the form of books. Presenting a diversity of stories and media for users to take in, the installation serves to spread awareness of ongoing fights for human rights while also encouraging users to take action themselves. “Act” buttons accompanying each issue provide visitors with suggestions for how to become part of the solution to these global problems.
Because its subject matter is dynamic, the Human Rights In-Depth experience is supported by a custom CMS that enables the Center to update, add, and remove content as the stories of human rights successes and struggles continue to evolve.
