Animated vignettes bring archival illustrations to life, telling the story of what really happened during the Great Famine.
Working with Ireland’s Great Hunger Museum, Second Story created a large-format motion graphics animation that highlights how the story of the Great Famine was told through newspaper illustrations. The 11-foot media wall immerses visitors in these period illustrations, and combines them with eyewitness accounts.
This project required frame-accurate creation and syncing of media across nine separate HD media players and displays. The animation was created at an ultra-HD resolution of 5760x3240. The final 10-minute presentation loops seamlessly, and acts as a visual beacon on the Museum’s second floor.
