In these three installations visitors slide a touch screen across archival storage boxes to reveal materials and evidence preserved from famous investigations, such as those on UFOs, the Kennedy assassination, the Kent State shootings, and Watergate.
Investigations blends mechanical and computer interactivity to allow visitors to uncover archived investigative evidence. As visitors slide the monitor across a rail in front of the storage area, the screen reacts with compelling synchronized animations, revealing the contents of the shelved boxes. TheEnhanced Record Viewer” lets visitors watch the videos, hear the recordings, and examine the documents from each investigation. This is part of the Public Vault, “To Form a More Perfect Union,” highlighting records of liberty and law that illustrate the evolution of our democracy and how records have been used to hold government officials accountable for their actions.
