Project Overview

Oregon TimeWeb

A dynamic timeline serves up an archive of images to tell the story of Oregon’s history in diverse, personalized presentations.

The Oregon Historical Society’s TimeWeb builds interactive timelines that create historical webs of ideas, events, and places with over 800 records from their archival collection. Visitors can customize the presentations by focusing time parameters, by selecting from dozens of tags or topics, or by filtering items on the timeline according to regions, materials, or keywords. Spotlights provide thematic tours on the timeline with essays and curated record sets. Relationships between items on the timeline are visualized when multiple tags are selected and records coalesce along thematic bands in the interface. Through a robust content management system the Oregon Historical Society can continue to add records and spotlights in the future in order to expand the storytelling capabilities of TimeWeb.
