Statistical data is ultimately about real people. To capture the lives and voices behind the big data, Second Story hit the road to film on location throughout the state.
The Voices Stories are a growing collection of over 30 short films where visitors meet everyday North Carolinians and hear about their experiences in their own words. These historical and contemporary documentaries reveal how individuals and organizations have worked together to meet the state’s challenges.
The Voices Stories can be experienced independently, and are also designed as part of the larger Commons experience, giving context and meaning to the rich statistical data. Interactive touchscreens allow visitors to browse stories by issue and geographic region. Visitors can also participate in crowd-sourced polling and add their voices to the conversation.
